Wander Filter Blend
Wander Filter Blend
Meet Wander. Our seasonal filter blend for people who love a good adventure in the cup.
This release brings together two exceptional coffees — Mariana Flores from Ecuador (anaerobic washed, Sidra) and Finca Las Flores from Acevedo, Huila in Colombia (anaerobic thermal shock, Ombligon).
In the cup: orange candy, mixed tropical fruits and honey. Two anaerobic processes, two countries, one seriously good filter blend.
And yes — the Colombia half of this blend featured in our Bronze Medal winning Golden Bean entry. So there's that.
Flavour notes
Orange Candy. Mixed Tropical Fruits. Honey.
Anaerobic washed meets anaerobic thermal shock — clarity, sweetness and depth in the same cup.
You've got questions, we've got answers.
Is this only for filter?
Yes. Wander is roasted specifically for filter brewing so you get sweetness, clarity and a clean finish. V60, Kalita, batch brew, Aeropress or even a gentle plunger — that's where it really shines.
What's anaerobic thermal shock and why should I care?
The Colombia from Finca Las Flores goes through one of the more involved processes you'll find in specialty coffee. After multiple rounds of anaerobic fermentation in sealed tanks, the coffee gets a warm thermal shock wash at 35°C before heading to solar parabolic canopy dryers for up to 15 days. It sounds complicated because it is — but what it produces in the cup is fruit intensity and sweetness that conventional processing simply can't match. The Vergara brothers have been refining this at Finca Las Flores for 30 years. It works.
What about the Ecuador?
Mariana Flores brings the structure. Sidra variety, anaerobic washed process — clean, bright and precise. It lifts the blend and stops it from becoming too heavy or syrupy. The two origins do completely different jobs and that's exactly the point.
How does it taste?
Think orange candy sweetness up front, layers of mixed tropical fruit through the middle and a clean honey finish that lingers. Vibrant without being sharp. Complex without being a lecture. Easy to drink every single day.
Will it be too "specialty" or weird?
Wander sits on the more adventurous end — that's kind of the point.
